Charley Woods

Charley C. Woods, 71, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, February 1, 2005 at Midland Hospice House.

He was born December 2, 1933 at Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, the son of Earl and Mahala Woods.

He graduated from Fort Gibson High School in Fort Gibson Oklahoma and attended a business college.

Mr. Woods began service with the ATSF Railway in Clovis NM. in November 1951 as a telegraph operator/printer clerk, was promoted to a wire chief position in 1968 and was later promoted to the Manager of the Amarillo Relay Office and later transferred to Topeka as the Assistant to the Superintendent of Communications in 1985. He retired from the ATSF Railway on July 31, 1989.

He married Dorothy Johnson on March 3, 1956 in Clovis, NM. She survives of the home.

Other survivors include one son, Randy Woods, Carbondale, KS; one daughter Carol Reed, Owasso, OK; 6 grandsons; 1 granddaughter and one great grandson.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Janet Lynn Malone.

Mr. Woods will lie in state after 1:00 pm, Thursday February 3 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm Friday, February 4, 2005 at the funeral home with burial to follow in Mount Hope cemetery
