Charles Warner

Charles W. "Chuck" Warner, 85, Topeka, passed away Thursday, November 29, 2012 after a long illness.

Chuck was born February 10, 1927 in Carbondale, the son of William Clyde and Beulah (Bailey) Warner. He graduated from Lyndon High School in 1945. He joined the Army and was stationed at the Pentagon.

He was employed as an accountant at The Topeka Foundry and Iron Works Company from 1967 to 1992.

He was a member of Trinity Presbyterian Church and the American Legion. He was an avid KU fan. He enjoyed playing sports, especially golf, coaching baseball, and watching his family play sports.

Chuck married Mary Ann Nelson on June 20, 1948 in Lyndon. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Bob (Dee) Warner, Denver, CO, Jeannine McKinnon, Topeka, Wayne (Liz) Warner, Altoona, IA, Carol (Phil) Calvin, Topeka; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He considered his employer, the Jack Bybee family, as his family. He was preceded in death by a brother and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Monday, December 3, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Graveside services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Lyndon Cemetery in Lyndon. Chuck will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
