Charles F. Stickney, 78, of Topeka, passed away. Sunday, November 26, 2006.
He was born March 13, 1928 in Houston, TX the son of Herbert and Frances Stickney.
He joined the Army at the age of 18 and was discharged 18 months later and recalled for the Korean War for 24 months.
Mr. Stickney was employed briefly by the Army after his discharge and later by Santa Fe Railroad until his retirement.
He married Eddie Vaughn Smith in Houston, TX, June 15, 1951. She survives along with their daughters Sandra, Topeka; Cynthia, Wichita, four grandchildren, Gregory, Kathryn, Sara, and Caroline and one great grandson, Keegan Sean.
He will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel where the family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday at the Central Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Shawnee Center Cemetery.
