He was a member of ROTC at the University of Kansas. He was active in the First United Methodist Church as a young person. Even though disabled in later years, he was an active league bowler at Gage Bowl and an avid reader.
He was employed by C.G. Blakely & Co. In Topeka, and the Department of Agriculture in Ft. Worth, Texas.
