Charles M. Williams, Jr., 85, longtime resident of Topeka, passed away Saturday, October 22, 2005 at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
Charles was born in Topeka, June 4, 1920 to Charles and Fern Williams, Sr..
Charles married Margaret "Maxine" Thompson on September 27, 1941.
Charles served his country in the U.S. Navy as a veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict.
He touched many lives through his activities with the Boy Scouts of America, United Way, Order of DeMolay, Topeka Lodge #17, Scottish Rite, Arab Shrine Temple, and was an avid golfer.
Charles is survived by his wife, Maxine; one daughter, Judy Salmon and husband, Bob, of Topeka; two sons, Bob Williams and wife, Carol of Topeka; Gary Williams and wife, Janice of TX; two sisters, Mary Jean Colby and husband Roger; Thelma McPhail and husband Alex; one sister in law, Doris Williams; five grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Harold Williams.
A Funeral Service for Charles will be at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at St. David's Episcopal Church. He will lie in state after 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 25, 2005 and the family will receive friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
