Charles Wesley Lacey, 95, formerly of Topeka, KS passed away Thursday, September 5, 2013, in Wichita, KS.
Charlie was born on a farm near Tasco, KS in 1917. He was the second of seven children born to Ray and Ethel Lacey. Charlie graduated from Fort Hays College in 1942.
After serving in the US Coast Guard during WWII, Charlie was united in marriage to Verna Mowry of Hoxie, KS in 1948. To this union five children were born: Charlene Lacey, New York City, NY; Colleen (Paul) Murnahan, Arlington, TX; Carol (Ron) Plinsky, Wichita; Don (Susan) Lacey, Oklahoma City, OK; and Shelly (Brad) Boehm, El Dorado Hills, CA. They were blessed with five grandsons and eight great-grandchildren.
He retired as a Corrective Therapist from the Department of Veteran's Affairs. Charlie was especially passionate about gardening, fishing, and golf.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 9, 2013, at Mount Hope Mausoleum Chapel, Topeka. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Mr. Lacey will lie in state one hour prior to the service.
