Charles Lee Wilkins, 74, son of Oscar Lee and Christine Wilkins passed away at his home on June 18, 2014. He was born on August 4, 1939 and was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Carolyn Wilkins, and a son, Charles L. Wilkins, Jr.
Mr. Wilkins was honorably discharged from the U.S. Air Force, and retired after 20 years of service with the US Post Office. He was a member of Northland Christian Church.
Mr. Wilkins is survived by his cherished wife of 40 years, Barbara Jean Wilkins; four sisters, Elizabeth L. Wilkins, Seattle, Washington, Rita Y. Jackson (Melvin, Sr.), Topeka, Sonya M. Wilkins, Indianapolis, Indiana, and Toni A. Wilkins, Topeka; two brothers Brett E. Wilkins and Oscar L. Wilkins, Jr. Topeka; six children, Quincy Jones, Denver, Colorado, Leona Jones, Topeka, Arlene Vivens (Orlando), Denver, Colorado, Connie Jones, Denver, Colorado, Brian Wilkins, Denver, Colorado, and Yvonne Wilkins Lawrence, Kansas, 25 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Charles will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
