Clyde ("Buddy") Edds

Clyde Harvey ("Buddy") Edds, age 83, passed away March 12, 2005, in Topeka, Kansas. Mr. Edds was a plasterer in the Topeka area for several years, and subsequently became a supervisor for Bob Florence Contractors. Later, he worked as a Civil Inspector for Fluor Engineers, Irvine, California, on jobs in Alaska and Saudi Arabia, and retired from that company in 1982. He was born in Topeka, Kansas, on October 11, 1921, the son of White and Bonnie Marie (Barb) Edds. He graduated from Seaman High School in 1939, and attended the University of Kansas prior to voluntarily entering the United States Army during World War II. He spent 39 months in the US Army, 29 months of which was served overseas in the western Pacific, with the 380th Bombardment Squadron. Mr. Edds was a member of the West Side Baptist Church for sixty-two years. He married Barbara Jeanne Martinson, March 5, 1943, in Topeka, who survives him. He is survived as well by his two daughters, Nancy Saylor and her husband Dr. Mark Saylor of Topeka, and Linda Dawson of Lenexa, his son, Dr. Breck Edds of Topeka, two grandchildren, Jodi Rae Tilbury and Evan Ward Dawson, and two great-grandchildren, all residents of Colorado, two sisters, Margaret Keen of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Shirley Winchester, of Las Vegas, Nevada, and beloved nieces and nephews. Donald and Lyle Edds, Clyde's two brothers, preceded him in death.

Mr. Edds will lie in state after 10:00 a.m., Tuesday March 15, 2005 at the Penwell-Gable Mid Town Chapel. The family will greet friends from 4:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the funeral home A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday March 16, 2005 at West Side Baptist Church, 1008 SW Fourth Street, Topeka, Kansas. Private burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Side Baptist Church, 1008 S.W. 4th Street, Topeka, KS 66606, Helping Hands Humane Society, 2625 N.W.
