Charles E. Eberhart, a beloved figure known for his unwavering dedication, peacefully passed away on April 16, 2025, in Topeka, Kansas. He was born on August 6, 1937, in Alta Vista, Kansas, and would go on to lead a life filled with service, passion, and love.

Charles proudly served in the United States Army and Army Reserves for 24 years, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant (E6) during the Vietnam era. His military service was a testament to his commitment to his country and the values he held dear. In addition to his distinguished military career, he dedicated over 35 years to Goodyear Tire and Rubber, where his work ethic and integrity earned him the respect of his colleagues and peers.

In addition to his career achievements, Charles was an enthusiastic member of the Lawrence Auto Club and the Vietnam Veterans' Association. He had a profound appreciation for automobiles, passionately collecting various automobile memorabilia, military items, and matchbooks. Charles cherished attending auto shows and auctions, where he could share his love for automobiles with others.

His adventurous spirit was evident in his fondness for road trips and outdoor activities. In his younger years, Charles enjoyed camping with family, fostering a deep connection to nature. He would also keep a large garden where he loved growing a variety of vegetables, often incorporating ones that were new and intriguing to him. A lover of animals, he readily adopted all of the feral cats in the neighborhood and ensured that they were cared for. A gifted mentor, he served as a Boy Scout Master, nurturing the next generation with wisdom and encouragement.

Charles was a pillar of strength for his family and is survived by his son and his son’s wife, Johann Eberhart and Mary Swartz, and his brothers, David Eberhart and Robert Eberhart. He was predeceased by his wife, Phyllis Eberhart; his son, Kurt Daniel Eberhart; his mother, Myrtle A. Eberhart; his father, Isaiah Eberhart; and his sister, Vera Eberhart.
