Charles E. Wilson, 77, Topeka, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2006 at Stormont-Vail Healthcare Center.
He was born Jan. 13, 1929 in Mayfield, KY, the son of Leonard P. and Nell Sunshine Adams Wilson. He came to Topeka with his family in the early 1940s. He attended Holliday Jr. High and Topeka High School.
Mr. Wilson worked with his father in the grocery and meat cutting business, and later was a meat cutter for Falleys before his retirement.
He married Ruby Ritt. She preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Chuck Wilson and wife, Carol, Doug Wilson, Terry Wilson and wife, Sherri, all of Topeka; a daughter, Kim Sowards and husband, Kevin, Meriden, KS; a sister, Carol Glover and husband, Jerry, Knoxville, TN; a brother, Bobby McClain and wife, Donna, Mayfield, KY; seven grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; five nephews; and a neice.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Interment will be in West Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Wilson will lie in state after noon Friday at the funeral home. The family will receive friends from 10 am until service time on Saturday.
