Charles E. Carlson, 93, of Topeka, passed away on January 6, 2021 at University of Kansas Health System - St. Francis Campus.
He was born on December 30, 1927 to Albert and Mary (Johnson) Carlson in Topeka, KS.
Charles graduated from Topeka High School in 1945. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He worked as a Lead Workman and Safety Inspector for the Sante Fe Railroad for 36 years prior to retiring.
On September 16, 1966, he married Norma Good. Charles and Norma lived in Topeka. She preceded him in death on August 24, 2000.
He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #51 and Bethel Baptist Church of Topeka.
Charles enjoyed bowling with his bowling league, fishing and he also coached a girls' softball team. Most of all he enjoyed the company of his family and friends.
Charles is survived by his loving sisters, Sandra (Frank) Morris and Helen Compton both of Topeka; a step-son, Carl Callahan of Cooper City, FL and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 am, on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Mount Hope Cemetery Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS 66604. Viewing will take place one hour prior to service time. Interment will follow.
