Charles A. Morgan, Jr.

Charles A. Morgan, Jr., 81, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2010, at home with his wife beside him. He was born September 20, 1928 in St. Louis, MO to Bessie (Provolt) and Charles A. Morgan, Sr. He served in the Navy in WWII from 1945-1949. Charles married Bernice Morgan and had three children, Charles A. Morgan, III (Diane), Wichita; Sherry Sharpe (Melvin), Mayetta; and Janelle Morgan, Wichita. Charles divorced in 1988 and married Zonda (Palmer) Morgan. He is also survived by six step children, Sheila McBride, Emporia; Shelley Carley, Ballwin, MO; Sharyn Baer (David), Duluth, GA; Toni Stout (Bruce), Olathe; David Palmer (Diane), Topeka; and Dustin Palmer (Dana), Peyton, CO; sixteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and a brother, Ron Morgan (Phil). Charles lost a brother, Frank Morgan, in 1995.

Charles retired from the Corp. of Engineers in 1994. After that he and his wife spent their winter months in Texas. Charles was a member at Faith Lutheran Church, lifetime member of American Legion Post 400, where he was Commander from 1998-1999, and Phillip Billard V.F.W. Post 1650. He'll be greatly missed by family and friends but never forgotten.

Memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 3, 2010 at Mount Hope Cemetery with American Legion Post 400 conducting military honors.
