Cecil T. George, 88, of Topeka, died Tuesday, May 28, 2024, in Topeka.
Cecil was born in Topeka, Kansas to Joseph and Emma (Devore) George.
He grew up and went to school in the Topeka area.
He started work at Gregg Tire Company in March of 1952, and worked there until December 31, 1957, he then served as Service Manager for 12 years before he started working at Midwestern Paper Company on January 2, 1968.
Midwestern Paper was later named Xpdx.
Cecil finished his working career with Xpdx, retiring on May 1, 2000. During his tenure with Xpdx Cecil was a member of Topeka Club of Printing, House Craftsmen serving various seats on the board and serving as President in 1986 - 1987.
Cecil was a Freemason with Albert Neese Lodge 248 in Topeka. Cecil was a member of Arab Shrine Temple for many years, one of his most precious achievements was transporting children to Shriners Hospital for Children in St. Louis, Missouri.
Cecil was a country music singer and musician. He played many different venues around the Topeka and Northwestern Kansas for many years. He has many musician friends that he shared music with over the years.
Cecil was happily married to Lula George for over 68 years, and they shared three children.
Cecil is preceded in death by his parents, son; Ernest George and daughter; Liana Foster.
He is survived by his loving wife; Lula George, son; Dennis George, 15 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
Memorial service will be at 1:30pm, Friday June 14, 2024, at Penwell Gabel Funeral Home Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
