Catherine L. (Kay) Reser, 84, Topeka, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004 at Midland Hospice House.
She was born July 29, 1920 in Emmett, KS, the daughter of Michael and Mary Hanna Flanagan.
Catherine attended schools in Emmett, KS. She moved to Topeka following graduation from high school and went to work for John Morrell Packing House. She later worked for International Shoe Company, Josten's American Yearbook Company, and the Kansas Highway Patrol. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
She married Franklin L. (Bud) Reser, on April 5, 1945 in Emmett. He died March 18, 1997.
Survivors include two sons, Gary L. Reser & his wife Kathy and Greg L. Reser & his wife Barbara, both of Topeka; a brother, Joe Flanagan of Emmett, KS; two sisters, Mary Hefner and Marguerite Appelhanz, both of Topeka, KS; and four grandchildren, Chris Glenn & his wife Christi, Minneapolis, MN, Beth Reser, Grant Reser, and Evan Reser, all of Topeka.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August, 23, 2004 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be at Penwell-Gabel's Memorial Park Cemetery. Mrs. Reser will lie in state after 1:00 p.m. Sunday, August 22, 2004 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. A parish rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Sunday and the family will receive friends until 8:00 p.m.
