Catherine Jean Jennings Hackman Hodge after 59 years of sharing the blessed beauty of her love with everyone she could, entered eternal life Saturday, October 31, 2015.
Her life grew from her birth in Norman OK, through Topeka, NY, Canada, WA, OR, PA, Lawrence KS, and Kansas City, MO, to where she settled at her parents' small farm in Topeka. She relished the opportunity to help in any way she could every person she met. As a RN/BSN she enhanced the care teams at St. Joseph then Stormont-Vail hospitals. She loved her work and her associates, and demonstrated intense concern for her patients.
She was the second child of Jerald Jennings and Nancy Ann Jennings Pressley who proceeded her in death. Her loving step-father Larry L. Pressley who considers Catherine his third daughter, survives. Her older sister, Jan Jennings Pokea passed in 2013. Her sister Elizabeth (Jennings) Clemmensen survives.
Her first marriage to Bruce Hackman from NY produced her son John Edward Hackman (wife Laura (Haviland) Hackman) and her daughter Emily Estelle Hackman, they survive her. She is also survived by nieces Charlie (husband Jason) Warren, Sierra Pineda, and nephew C.J. Pineda.
Her husband, Stephen A. Hodge, who survives her, had the pleasure to join her in marriage as John entered adulthood and Emily entered her teens.
Together, Catherine and Stephen dreamed of developing the family farm and establishing a beautiful and peaceful refuge where she could express the most cherished part of herself. She nurtured a powerful persona as "Nana" to her grandchildren, Madison and Aubrey, step-grandchilden Giovanni and Alessandro, Sapphire, and Autumn, and her grandnephew Hendrix and grandniece Lola.
Her wonderful spirit, joy, and talents will be celebrated at 12 PM, Monday November 9, 2016 with a viewing followed by a service at 1 PM at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave Topeka, KS 66604. Cremation will take place following the service.
