Carolyn Maxine Tilberg, 84, Topeka, died Monday, April 4, 2011 at a local care center.
Carolyn was born March 9, 1927 in Dwight, the daughter of Edward A. and Esther (Swenson) Tilberg.
She attended both elementary and high school at Dwight and Bethany College at Lindsborg for four years, majoring in piano.
She had worked at Topeka State Hospital in Medical Records for 35 years before retiring in 1987 because of illness.
In previous years, she had sponsored three children from Hong Kong, Taiwan, and India through the Christian Children's Fund.
Carolyn moved to Luther Place II in 1987. She had been active in several activities as a volunteer at Luther Place, and had been a volunteer with Topeka Public Library several years. She had also volunteered in the office at First Lutheran Church where she was a member.
Survivors include brother, Alden F. Tilberg, Joplin, MO; sisters, Marjorie Williams, Wichita, Phyllis Mason, Topeka; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at First Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at Marion Hill Lutheran Cemetery north of White City. Carolyn will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
