Carolyn M. Hastings, 77, Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, November 17, 2010.
Carolyn was born July 30, 1933 in Ottawa, the daughter of Clyde and Genevieve (McClure) Cook. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1953.
She worked at Blue Cross & Blue Shield and later as co-owner of R.M. Hastings Garage for 35 years, retiring in 1993.
She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was a long time member of the Memorial committee, taught Sunday school and Bible School. She was a member of Women's Club and Lucky-Seven Camping Club. Her hobbies included landscape painting, playing bridge, quilting, woodworking and knitting.
Carolyn married Robert M. Hastings on January 22, 1953 at Grace Evangelical United Brethren Church. He died May 1, 1998. Survivors include daughters, Debra Akins, Sandy Willetts; both of Topeka; son, Robert Hastings, Jr., Hoyt; and seven grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Cook.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, November 22, 2010 at Grace United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Carolyn will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel after 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
