Carolee Forrester, 78, Topeka, passed away on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at Rossville Manor.
Carolee was born March 29, 1932 in Emporia, the daughter of Clifford and Maybelle (Kinkade) Shoebrook. She graduated from Emporia High School and Washburn University with a degree in Education.
She was an Elementary Reading Teacher in USD-501 schools for 21 years, retiring in 1994.
She was a member and past president of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority, PEO where she served as the Corresponding Secretary, Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and First Christian Church.
Her hobbies included playing the piano, reading, and playing bridge. She was devoted to her grandchildren and enjoyed hosting holidays at her home with her family.
Carolee married John H. Forrester on December 19, 1954 in Emporia. He died July 28, 2008.
Survivors include daughter, Angie (Don) Kramer, Overland Park; sons, David Forrester, Springfield, MO, John (Jennifer) Forrester, Topeka; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Cliff.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 20, 2010 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery. Carolee will lie in state at the funeral home after 2:00 p.m. on Thursday.
