Carole Isabel White, 72, of Topeka, went to meet the Lord on Friday, June 1, 2012, surrounded by her family, after battling cancer for three and a half years.
Carole was born April 17, 1940, in Topeka, daughter of Kenneth and Kathryn (McCracken) Moeller. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1958, where she met Jerry Dean White. They were married on October 18, 1958, at Trinity United Methodist Church, Topeka. Carole worked as an elementary Title I Aide for USD 501 from 1968 to 1980. She worked at Topeka Capital Journal for 22 years, retiring in 2002 as the Credit Manager.
Carole was a member of the Credit Women of Topeka, Topeka Jayhawk Club, and YWCA. She was an avid KU Jayhawk fan. Carole attended Tecumseh United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her husband, Jerry White, Topeka, daughters, Debra (Randy) Sitorius, Topeka, Terri (Rob III) Neiswender, Topeka, and Julie (Steve) Brookhart, Olathe, eight grandchildren, Meagan (Alan) Eisman, Olathe, Shelby Sitorius, Topeka, Lacey (Clay) Quinby, South Korea, Luke Sitorius, San Antonio, TX, Colby Neiswender and Logan Neiswender, Topeka, Rachel Brookhart and Riley Brookhart, Olathe, a great-grandson, Kentin Neiswender, Topeka, a nephew, Dustin White, Tecumseh, a sister, Claudia (Bud) Whitlow, Panama City Beach, FL, a brother-in-law, Ed (Joyce) White, Tecumseh, cousins, Gary (Mahala) Silversmith, Meriden, Judy (Dr. James) Walker, Lawrence, and Karen Lichtenstern, Flower Mound, TX, many cousins, nieces and nephews, and loving K-9 companion, Cody.
Carole was preceded in death by her parents, grandmother, Anna Swearingen, and sister, Kathleen Anne Brunton.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 6, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka. Interment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Carole will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at the funeral home, where the family will greet friends from 6:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorial contributions may be made in Carole's memory to the American Cancer Society.
