Carol L. Logan, 87, of Topeka, passed away on July 22, 2012, at Midland Hospice House.
She was born to Verne & Lulu (Buchanan) Blythe of Eskridge, KS, on December 8, 1924. Carol graduated from Eskridge High School and received her teaching certificate from Emporia Teachers College.
She married E. Dale Logan on May 25, 1947, and they were married over 50 years.
Carol taught school in the early years, and then was a homemaker. She was a member and officer of Dover Rebekah's Lodge, Dover FCE, and was also a district officer for each organization. Carol was a 4-H leader for over 50 years, where she taught many children how to sew. She was a judge for sewing each year at the Shawnee County Fair and other surrounding county fairs. Sewing was her passion, but alterations were what she liked best. Carol did alterations for many people in the community. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Carol was on the election board committee, and many were greeted by her as they came to Dover to vote. She was a member of the Dover Federated Church, and was on committees for the Dover Heritage Days and the Dover Community Center.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband, sister, Evelyn Bullock, and brother, Gail Blythe.
Survivors include her daughter, Carla Burdick, Topeka, son, Keith (Janet) Logan, Dover, and five grandchildren, Michael and Chris Burdick, Valerie (Logan) French, and Hayley and Amber Logan.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Dover Federated Church, Dover. Interment will follow at Dover Cemetery, Dover. Carol will lie in state from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka. Memorial contributions may be directed to Dover Federated Church, PO Box 232, Dover, KS 66420, or Dover Community Center, PO Box 244, Dover, KS 66420.
