Carol L. Appelhanz, 61, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Midland Hospice House. She was born May 16, 1953 in Wichita Falls, TX, the daughter of Richard L. and Virginia L. Stahn Young.
Carol graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1971 and received a nursing degree from Kaw Area Vo-Tech in 1980. She was employed as a charge nurse for Hickory Pointe Care & Rehabilitation Center in Oskaloosa, KS.
Survivors include one son, Erik F. Snow and one daughter, Elaine J. Appelhanz both of Topeka and three sisters, Kathleen (Roger) Killian, Susie Young-Mather and Jill (Jim) Toy all of Topeka, her niece, Amber Leonard and her nephews, Neil Killian, Jeff Killian and Austin Toy and her beloved cats, Celery, Gary and Jack.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
