Carol Anne Courtney, 67, of Topeka, died on Sunday, January 26 at Midland Hospice House.
Carol was born on February 21, 1946 in Manhattan, the daughter of Max and Della (Hales) Decker. She graduated from Topeka West High School in 1964. She graduated from Washburn University in 1982 and from Kansas University in 1984.
She married Robert Courtney in 1967 in Lees Summit, MO; they later divorced in 1985. He preceded her in death on September 17, 2012.
Carol is survived by son, Blake Courtney of Lawrence, daughter, Devon (Josh) Luthy of Leander, TX, granddaughters, Annika and Camila Luthy, sister, Bev Carlson of Carbondale, nephews, Jeremy and Joshua Price of Topeka, niece, Bridgette (Trey) Jones of Topeka, and great-nieces, Sierra and Mikayla Jones.
A celebration of life gathering will take place from 4:00-6:00p.m. on Thursday, January 30 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st Topeka, KS 66604-3720 or to Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 920 Main Street, Suite 280 Kansas City, MO 64105.
