Carleene M. Schroeder, 84, passed away peacefully in her sleep on March 14, 2006 at her home in Topeka, Kansas.
Carleene was born July 6, 1921 in Kansas City, Missouri to Warren and Ruth Macurday and spent her youth in Emporia, Kansas, and graduated from Emporia High School. She attended Emporia State University, where she met and later married Harold R. Schroeder from Marion, Kansas. Carleene was a homemaker and loved gardening, especially African violets and roses, and enjoyed painting for her own home and family. She was a deaconess at the First Congregational Church, in Topeka and was also a founding member of the Topeka Round-up Club Roundets, which has been continually meeting for over 40 years. Carleene and Harold loved to travel and especially enjoyed visiting their daughter, Diane and family in New Zealand.
Carleene was preceded in death by both of her parents, and her husband Harold. She is survived by three daughters, Carla and husband Gary Schroeller, Randolph, Kansas; Diane Selinkoff, New Zealand; and Constance and husband Kurt Prinslow, Kiowa, Colorado. Also surviving are five granddaughters, Carlee and Kathryn Prinslow, Kiowa, Colorado; Ruth and Abbie Selinkoff, New Zealand; and Hannah Schroeller, Randolph, Kansas.
A memorial service is being held Monday, March 20, 2006 at 10:00 a.m., at the First Congregational Church, 1701 SW Collins, Topeka, Kansas.
