Carl Dennis Wingo, 61, of Topeka, passed away on January 28, 2017.
He was born on April 26, 1955 in Duncan, MS to Odessa (Wingo) Sanders. He grew up in Chicago, IL. Following his education he served in the United States Army.
He married Darline (Adams) Wingo on July 4, 2012 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
Carl was employed with Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company at the time of his passing. He enjoyed gardening, traveling, and helping others whenever he could.
He lived his life for his love, Darline, but a close second were his Chicago Bears, "How about those Bears?"
He is survived by his wife, Darline, of Topeka, KS; his mother, Odessa Sanders, Harvey, IL; sons, Emmanuel Moore, Las Vegas, NV, Shon Wingo, Elkhart, IN, and Demario Wingo, Las Vegas, NV; brothers, Terry (Martina) Wingo, Gregory Jones, both of Chicago, IL, Michael (Monique) Wingo, Evrette "Jaye" (Sonia) Jones, all of Topeka, KS, and Terrence (Crystal) Jones; sisters, Jacqueline Burns, and Yolanda (Andre) Coleman, all of Florence, KY; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; a close friend, Roosevelt James; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved building relationships with.
He was preceded in death by a son, Anthony Wingo.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service.
Private inurnment will take place at a later date in Lakeview Gardens in Wichita, KS.
Memorial contributions in Carl's honor may be made to Parsons State Hospital Endowment Association, 261 Gabriel, Parsons, KS, 67357.
