Carl R. Schellhorn, 82, of Topeka, passed away Saturday, April 1, 2017.
He was born April 4, 1934, in Lawrence, Kansas, the son of Richard and Edith (Houk) Schellhorn.
Carl graduated from Liberty Memorial High School in Lawrence in 1952. He went on to receive his Business Degree from Clarke's School of Business
He served in the Army National Guard from 1956 to 1962. Carl married Frieda Eileen Stroup on August 30, 1956 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on June 5, 2008.
He was a member of the Quivira Heights Church of Christ in Topeka.
Carl was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber Company from 1963 to 1990.
He is survived by three daughters, Kelly (Larry) Thompson, of Topeka, Kathy (Jeff) Kroh, and Carleen (Timmy) Chowning, both of Kansas City, Kansas; grandchildren, Brian (Natalie) Kroh, Kyle (Jill) Kroh, Aaron Kroh, Cammie (Chris) Reynolds, Joey (Alison) Chowning, Troy (Faith) Chowning, Jessica (B.J.) Balecotcha, Chloe Schellhorn-Thompson, and Adam Schellhorn-Thompson; as well as 21great-grandchildren.
Carl enjoyed watching the Royal's, KU Basketball, fishing, going to gage park, and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
