Carl Edward "Ed" Fay of Topeka, was born March 5, 1925 in Topeka, the son of Carl Wilmer and Jeanette Lucille (Billups) Fay. He was one of eight children. Carl passed away Wednesday, January 16, 2013. He was 87.
Carl lived in Topeka all his life, and he was loved by all who knew him. Carl was employed by the State Printer as a bookbinder. He was an active member of the Oakland Wesleyan Church for many years, and later the Fairlawn Church of the Nazarene.
Carl married Arlene Stocker. They had two daughters, Cheri Lee and Betti Merle. In 1978, Arlene passed away from cancer.
Carl later married Edna M. (Keen) Pease. During the last part of their marriage, he spent several years caring for Edna because of health problems.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Arlene and Edna, daughter, Betti, sister, Olive Louise Bell and brothers, Robert LeRoy and George Wilmer Fay.
Ed is survived by his daughter, Cheri Lee Atchley; step-son, Ernie Pease; sisters, Doris June (Marvin) Collins and Mary Katherine Clark; brothers, Paul Dean (Lois) Fay and John Earl (Joyce) Fay; four grandchildren, Christie, C.J., Tammi and Brandi; one great-grandson, Robert; several step-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside ceremony will be 2 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013 at West Lawn Memorial Gardens, I-70 and Auburn Rd., Topeka. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, Topeka, is assisting the family.
