Carl B. Jordan, 72, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2015.
He was born March 27, 1943, in Cheraw, South Carolina, the son of Leo and Wilma (Rogers) Jordan. He graduated from Cheraw High School in 1961. After high school, Carl joined the Air Force and served two tours of duty in Vietnam. After being honorably discharged from the military, he received certification for small appliance repair.
Carl was employed with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. retiring after 15 years. He was also a rural mail carrier, retiring after 32 years of service.
He served on numerous committees throughout his life, several with the U.S. Postal Service and was a member of the Shawnee County Master Gardener Community. He was an amateur genealogist, organic gardener, avid reader and cryptoquote master.
Carl married Barbara A. Jordan on September 16, 1967 in Topeka, Kansas. She survives. Other survivors include his siblings, Rachel (Richard) Brower, Monroe, NC and Otis (Mary) Jordan, Cheraw, SC; three half-brothers, Bruce Jordan, Mack Jordan and Jerry Jordan.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 1 pm, Tuesday, April 21 at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. Private inurnment will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Monday, April 20 at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, Salvation Army or to a charity of the donor's choice.
