Carilyn Bess (Johnston) Lutz, 80, of Topeka, passed away Thursday, February 18, 2016.
She was born September 14, 1935, in Fort Scott, Kansas, the daughter of Clifton and Gladys (Carson) Johnston. She was a 1953 graduate of Ft. Scott High School.
Carilyn was employed by the YMCA and later by the State of Kansas in Topeka, retiring in 2001.
She was a member of the Seaman Congregational Church.
Carilyn married Garold G. Good August 25, 1953, divorced July 1975. He preceded her in death in February of 2003. She married Thomas H. Lutz on October 21, 1985 in Topeka, KS. He preceded her in death on December 29, 2007 . Survivors include two children, Jeanne (Peter) Hansen and Frank (Kay Adams) Good, both of Topeka, daughter-in-law Marilyn Halby of Calico Rock, AR.; 10 grandchildren, David (Tammy) Bennett, Kelsey (Derek) Mabon, Wyatt Hansen, Beth (David) Bird, Leslie Good, Melanie (Ben) Salsbury, Brian (Michelle) Good, Jacoby Good Brandon (Emily) Adams, Aubrey Adams; 17 great-grandchildren, Taylor Mabon, Landon Mabon, Riley Mabon, Abigail Bird, Megan Bird, Wesley Bird, Gennavive Salsbury, Josulyn Salsbury, Alaura Salsbury, Alysah Salsbury, Dillyn Sears, Madison Good and Carter Good, Ethan Pangle, Colton Adams, Eliana Adams, Lochlan Adams; a sister, Marilyn Simmons of Lees Summit, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents Clifton Johnston and Gladys (Carson) Johnston; a son, Wes Good on September 7, 2010; a brother, Donald Johnston; a sister, Eileen Scott and an infant sister, Margaret Johnston.
A funeral ceremony will be 1 p.m., Monday, February 22, 2016 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka. Interment will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, Topeka. Carilyn will lie in state after 2 pm, Sunday, at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
