Calvin Ray Clark, 69, loving husband, father, grandfather and brother passed away May 23, 2012 in Memphis, Tennessee.
Calvin was born in Wichita, Kansas, the son of L. Ray and Esther Clark. He lived in Beloit Kansas where he attended Saint John's Catholic Schools and graduated from High School in May, 1961.
He attended Rockhurst University in Kansas City for one semester and then joined the United States Army; serving in Korea. After two years of service he worked for Southwestern Bell for a brief time and then began his distinguished 42 year career at IBM. At IBM, he excelled as a Customer Engineer, Program Support Engineer, Systems Engineer, Marketing Specialist and Senior Consultant. In his role as a Senior Consultant, he traveled worldwide providing his vast knowledge and expertise to executives of many major corporations.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Ann; his daughters Christine Lawrence, Debbie Trahoon and husband Floyd; and son, Mike Clark; his grandchildren, Nicole Lawrence, Tanner Lawrence, and Gavin Clark. His brothers and sisters are and were: Kathy Grandy and husband Cal, Alice Derfler and husband Jerry, Wade Clark (deceased), Mike Clark and wife Debi, Rick Clark, Mark Clark (deceased)Nancy Clark, Cass Clark, Lola Porter and husband George, Wilma Burke, Ron Clark and Larry Clark. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Cal's love of life was evidenced in his joy in telling stories. His presence in any situation could instantly transform a room of complete strangers into friends. With his wonderful sense of humor and his great sense of pun, he could make anyone smile. He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
Services to celebrate Cal's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th, Topeka, Kansas 66604. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Jude Children's Hospital in Memphis, TN and sent in care of the funeral home.
