Bruce Hill, 67, Auburn, passed away Sunday, May 14, 2017.

He was born July 9, 1949, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Wayne and Kathryn (Quaney) Hill. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1967.

He was NASCAR Rookie of the Year in 1975. Bruce raced in NASCAR from 1975 until 1980.

In the mid-90s he started Hill Quarter Horses in Auburn. His love of horses continued until his passing.

Bruce was active with American Quarter Horse Association and AA.

He is survived by his mother, Topeka; two children: Trevor (Natalie) Hill, Atlanta, GA and Lindsay (Scott) Eason, Clayton, NC; four siblings: Daryl (Sandy) Hill, Craig (Shelley) Hill, Larry (Carol) Hill and Tracie (Dale) McCluskey, all of Topeka and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father and son, Jason Hill.

Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, May 18, 2017 at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, 6th & Gage. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 10th & Lane.
