Bruce C Andrews

April 12, 1954 — March 29, 2025

Bruce C. Andrews, passed away on March 29, 2025, at the University of Kansas - St. Francis Campus. Born on April 12, 1954, in Topeka, Kansas, Bruce dedicated his life to serving others and fostering a strong sense of community through his many endeavors.

Bruce spent a significant portion of his career with the City of Lawrence Parks and Recreation and the Topeka/Shawnee County Parks and Recreation. His passion for sports was evident as he officiated softball, basketball, volleyball and football for 40 years. Beyond his professional commitments, Bruce worked selflessly as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels for an impressive 36 years, showcasing his deep commitment to helping those in need. In his retired life, he enjoyed many days out on the golf course.

A proud alumnus, Bruce graduated from Royal Valley High School in 1972 and furthered his education at The University of Kansas, graduating in 1978. His love for his alma mater was apparent in his enthusiasm for KU sports, a cherished interest throughout his life.

With an infectious laugh and a warm smile, Bruce was known for his ability to connect with everyone he met, never knowing a stranger. His kindness shone in the way he embraced those around him, always greeting friends and family with a hug and a kiss goodbye. A beloved grandpa, he reveled in sharing stories about his grandchildren—Parker, Taegan, Ryder, and Hadley Andrews—attending their sports and school activities with immense pride.

In addition to his family, Bruce was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church since 1979, where he served on the Board of Trustees, sang in the choir, performed in the bell choir, and volunteered annually for vacation Bible school. His engagement with the church community reflected his faith and dedication to service.

Bruce is survived by his loving wife, Laurie Andrews; daughters Lindsey (Mark) Andrews and Kelsey Andrews; son Scott (Jamie) Andrews; grandchildren Parker, Taegan, Ryder, and Hadley Andrews; and sisters Christine (Lee) Tuck and Coleen (Jim d. 2023) Tyler. He also leaves behind many in-laws, nieces, and nephews who will deeply miss his loving presence.

Preceding him in death are his mother Joan Frazier (Corbin), stepfather Robert Frazier, father Richard Andrews, mother-in-law Laura Jean Pierce, and father-in-law Dr. Donald R. Pierce.
