Brenda Marie Bright, 63, Topeka, passed away March 16, at her residence, surrounded by family. She was born April 3, 1949, in Topeka, the daughter of Harold and Maxine Bright. Brenda was a 1967 graduate of Highland Park High School and attended Washburn University. She was employed by Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Kansas, retiring after 39 years. Following retirement she worked for Stormont-Vail Healthcare Health Connections. Brenda very much enjoyed family, cooking, the outdoors, and a variety of music. She was a member of El Shaddai Ministries and had attended Second Baptist as a child.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father. Survivors include children, Tracie (Alex) Donnelly and Jordan Carr; brothers, Marvin Dawson, Donald (Cris) Dawson; sisters, Lolena Freeman, Janice (Larry) Griffin, Karla Bright, and Brenda Johnson; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 21, at El Shaddai Ministries, 920 SE Sherman Ave., Topeka KS 66607. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka.
