Bodie Cummings, 72, Topeka, passed away on Sunday, December 30, 2012. He was born on Jun 24, 1940 in Butler, Missouri to Clifford "Papa" and Francile "Nana" (Baker) Cummings.
Bodie graduated from Butler High School in 1957 and later graduated from Draughns Business College. In 1959 he married Charlotte (Cope) Lane. They were married for 36 years. In 1997, he married Vickie Rogers. They were married for 10 years. He was a member of Material Mens and Southwest Optimist Club both in Topeka. He owned and operated Cummings Supply Company and later BC Products.
Bodie was an avid sportsman including hunting, fishing, softball and pool player. He loved to play cards, his favorite game was cut throat. Bodie was the life of the party, had a great sense of humor and with him, the party never ended.
Bodie is survived by three children, Rick (Samantha) Cummings; Scott (Melissa) Cummings all of Topeka and Pam (Kevin) Salsbury of Paradise, CA; one brother, Everett (Kay) Cummings of Butler, MO; two step children, Kyle (Erin) Ferguson and Tonya Ferguson; stepmother, Naomi Cummings; step sister, Karen (Larry); nine grandchildren, Crystal (Craig), Ricky, Trevor, Kelse, Austin, Connor, Ty, Zach and Bailey and two great grandchildren, Chase and Carson.
A memory service will be held at 11 am on Thursday, January 3, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to be made in Bodie's name to a local charity of your choice.
