7. Background: Dr. Hentzler graduated from Kansas State University in 1943 with a degree in Veterinary
Medicine. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity while at KSU.
Dr. Hentzler was a military veteran serving in the United States Army during World War II. He served as a Captain
from 1943-1946. He then served in the United States Army Reserve from 1946-1972 retiring at the rank of
Colonel.
Dr. Hentzler was manager and co-owner of Hentzler Packing Company, Topeka, from 1951-1987.
He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Capitol Post #1 American Legion, Shawnee Country Club,
Military of the World Wars, and both the local and national Reserve Officers Associations.
