Bob Dunnaway, 84, of Topeka, died on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at Midland Hospice House.
Bob was born on November 14, 1929 in Eldon, MO to Ira and Flossie (Marriot) Dunnaway. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1948 and briefly attended Washburn University.
Bob worked as a department head for Finney and Turnipseed Consulting Engineers for over 46 years and retired in 1994.
Bob was married to Shirley Gordon on July 1, 1950 in Topeka; she preceded him death on February 4, 2011.
Bob was a member of the University United Methodist Church as well as a local supporter of the Moose Lodge. His passions included his family, hunting, fishing, and woodcarving.
He is survived by a son, Mike (Susan) Dunnaway of Perry; two daughters, Sandra (Robert) Grosfield of Eskridge and Rebecca (Mike) Jacobs of Kansas City, KS; a sister, Doris Neugebauer of Topeka; a brother, James (Jean) Dunnaway of Centre, AL; 9 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.
A funeral ceremony will be at 11:00a.m., Tuesday, January 7 at the Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Ave., Topeka; the family will receive friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home. A committal service will follow at Mount Hope Chapel, 4700 SW 17th St., Topeka.
