Bob Florence, Jr., 76 of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 12, 2006 at his home.
Bob was born November 16, 1929 in Topeka, son of Robert A. and Grace (Young) Florence, Sr..
He graduated from Topeka High School in 1947 and attended Washburn University.
Bob was united in marriage to Gladys Bowser in Topeka in 1952. They were married for 53 years.
Bob owned and operated Bob Florence Contractor until his retirement in 1996; he then served as Chairman of the Board until his death.
Bob was a member of The Grace Cathedral Church, Boater's Unit of the Arab Shrine, and A.G.C. of Kansas.
Survivors include: his wife, Gladys; four children, Stacy and wife, Debbie Florence, Mamie and husband, Nick Reilly, Adam and wife, Laurie Florence, and Mary Grace and husband, Kim Bruce Bettis; eleven grandchildren, Bobby, Abe, Grace, Melissa, Riley, Elijah, Joshua, Noah, Adin, Casey, and Brian; one great grandson, Isaac; and one aunt, Mary Haney. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Joe.
A Funeral Service for Bob will be at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 17 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. He will lie in state at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m.. Memorial Contributions may be sent to Shriner's Children's Fund, C/O Arab Temple, 1301 S. Kansas Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66612-1332 or the Capper Foundation, 3500 SW 10th, Topeka, Kansas 66604.
