Billy E. McCroskey, 70, of Topeka, passed away on June 16, 2017.

He was born on December 13, 1946 in Denver, CO to Wallace David and Florence Irene (Green) McCroskey. He attended public school in Aztec, New Mexico.

Billy was an oil field driller in Colorado, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Arizona and Kansas. He later became an over-the road truck driver.

He married Beverly Ralston on April 15, 1966 in Liberal, Kansas. They later divorced. On June 5, 1988 he married Sharon K. Schneider in Las Vegas, NM. She preceded him in death on June 23, 2005. Survivors include three children, a son, Richard (Danette) McCroskey, Tyrone, OK; and a daughter, Sheila Keebler, Delavan, WI; his daughter, Ronda (Carlos) Salazar, Liberal, KS; seven grandchildren, Klynna McCroskey, Topeka, Kala McCroskey, Wichita, Michael McCroskey, Texas, Daniel Martin, Hugoton, KS, Sean McCroskey, Delavan, WI, Veronica (Jeffrey) Calderon, Liberal, Christopher Keebler and Delavan, WI; five great-grandchildren, Amaya Cohens, Elizabeth Mendez, Allie Mendez, Ismael Calderon and Aidan McCroskey; four sisters, Cheryl (Kenneth) Downs, Nemaha, NE, Irene Crites, Arlington, TX, Virginia (Kenneth) McCroskey, Rock Port, MO, Helen (Earnest)Brooks, Pampa, TX; five brothers, Melvin McCroskey, Ft. Supply, OK, Robert (Bonnie) McCroskey, Amarillo, TX, Walter McCroskey, Pampa, TX, James Thomas, Yuma, AZ and Carl McCroskey, Perryton, TX; many nieces and nephews; his close friend, Virginia Clark; and his canine companions, Bert, Sadie and Walker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry McCroskey; a sister, Sandy Reynolds; two brothers, Charles McCroskey, Wallace McCroskey; and two great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Krystal Mendez.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Cemetery, Topeka. Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel is assisting the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ronda Salazar, which will be designated later by the family and sent to P.O. Box 1684, Liberal, KS 67905.
