Billy "Bill" Lehman, 78, of Topeka, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023.
He was born May 27, 1945, in Linn, Kansas, the son of Herman and Christina (Boerger) Lehman. He graduated from Linn High School. After graduating, he joined the United States Air Force.
Bill married Cheryl Oelschlager on September 25, 1969 in Topeka, KS. They welcomed two children to their union of marriage, Heather and Evan.
Bill was employed by the Cargill for 25 years as a Bailer.
He was a proud member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, of Topeka. Bill was also a member of the American Legion in Linn, KS.
He was the proudest grandpa and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He was the #1 Elvis Fan. He played softball on the church league when he was younger. Bill and Cheryl loved traveling and their favorite place to visit was Yellowstone and Vegas. Bill didn't know a stranger and would strike up a conversation with anyone.
He leaves behind his wife, Cheryl Lehman; his children, Heather Raney and Evan (Kayla) Lehman; his grandchildren, Brandon Raney, Courben Raney, Emmalee Raney, Collin Lehman, Kaylie Lehman and Sophia Lehman and his three sisters, Louise Rahe, Ruth Simnitt and Judy (John) Lotz. He was preceded in death by his parents; nine sisters and five brothers; his son in law, Micheal Raney and his father and mother in law, Lester and Novella Oelschlager.
A funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, December 21, 2023 at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka, KS 66606. His family will greet relatives and friends one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest at Mount Hope Cemetery and will be honored for his military service. In his honor, memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 901 SW Fillmore, Topeka, KS 66606.
