Bill Pardue, 72, of Topeka, passed away on October 14, 2018, due to complications resulting from a tragic house fire in Lenexa.
He was born on September 24, 1946, in Coffeyville, KS, the son of Ralph and Blossom (Simons) Pardue. He graduated from Dekalb High School and earned his degree from Baker University in 1969. He then accumulated multiple college credits from Washburn and Kansas State Universities in preparation for the certified public accountant exam, earning his CPA in 1986.
While attending Baker, he met the love of his life, Lynn (Mobley) Pardue. They were married on August 15, 1970, in Wichita, KS. They had three children; Ryan, Sarah Margaret (D at birth) and Laura. Through college he worked at Goodyear through the summers. During the academic years he bar tended and co-managed The Wheel and the Tee Pees in Lawrence. For four years at Baker he also worked as a house boy for the sorority of which his wife, Lynn, was a member, Delta Delta Delta.
After marriage he continued to work at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company as a supervisor and as a cost accountant. Leaving Goodyear in 1981, he worked as an insurance company accountant and a stock broker for BC Christopher and Blunt, Ellis and Lowe Brokerage Firms. After obtaining his CPA, he was employed by Spencer Love and Berberich Trahan CPA Firms. In 1995, he began his own business, William L. Pardue CPA, practicing accounting for over 44 years.
He was a member of Delta Tau Delta Fraternity at Baker. He was very active with Baker Alumni, as well as his fraternity. Bill was proud of the fact that his son was also a member of Delta Tau Delta. In Topeka he was a member of First United Methodist Church, and many other professional and recreational organizations.
Bill was very involved in his son's Boy Scouting and his daughter's musical endeavors. He was incredibly proud of both of his children and their many successes. He loved his grandsons very much, and adored the time he spent with them.
He loved music, hiking, and camping. He was an avid sportsman and spent time hunting and trap shooting.
Bill is survived by wife, Lynn Pardue; children, Laura (Casey) Snyder and Ryan (Risa) Pardue; grandson, Micah Pardue; sisters, Bonita Pardue and Betty Lou Pardue; and nephew, Nicholas Pardue.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Logan Snyder; and infant daughter, Sarah Margaret Pardue.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, in the sanctuary at Topeka First United Methodist Church, 600 SW Topeka Blvd.
