Beverly Ann (Ames) Rasmussen

Beverly Ann Rasmussen, 92, Topeka, KS, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023 at Brewster Place.

She was born August 7, 1930 in Denver, CO, the daughter of Clifford Homer Ames and Irma Valeria Jewett Ames. After graduating in 1947 from Centennial High School, Pueblo, CO, she attended Pueblo Junior College and later enrolled in x-ray technician training in Denver. Beverly married Robert Lex Rasmussen June 4, 1950 at Country Club Methodist Church in Kansas City, MO. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary June 2000 with family and friends. She lived in Colorado, Missouri, Idaho, Montana, Utah and Oklahoma before moving to Overland Park, KS in 1967. She worked for the U.S. Department of the Treasury, Internal Revenue Service Agency in Kansas City, MO before retiring. During her career with the government as a liaison between the Service and Congressional offices, she received numerous special achievement awards and the Albert Gallatin Award upon retirement.

In July 2001, Beverly moved to Brewster Place Retirement Community, Topeka, to be near family and was active in Brewster's painting classes and craft activities. She was very artistic in many ways, but thoroughly enjoyed oil painting. Over the years, she painted several pictures for family and friends. She also enjoyed games, social activities, and visiting with other residents and staff. While living at Brewster Place, she attended Vespers in the chapel for a number of years and was grateful to grow in her Christian faith. During her lifetime, she attended several United Methodist Churches.

She enjoyed her home, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a lifteime member of the Adah Chapter #34, now Pueblo Chapter #7 Order of Eastern Star in Pueblo, CO.

Beverly was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lex Rasmussen in February 2001; her son Johnny (John) Lex Rasmussen, her parents, Clifford and Irma Ames; and infant grandson, Keith M. Rasmussen; and a brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Verner Jewett Ames and Margaret S. Ames.

Survivors include her daughter, Vickie L. McReynolds (Richard) Topeka, KS; three granddaughters, Ann C. Kuebler (Joshua) Topeka, KS; Jamie M. Hembrough (J. Douglas), Colorado Springs, CO; and Jenny L. Rasmussen, Colorado Springs, CO; a grandson, Ryan L. McReynolds (Courtney) Mead, CO; seven great-grandchildren, Jakob, Noah, Malachi, and Micaiah Kuebler all of Topeka, KS; Elyse and Ryder McReynolds, Mead, CO; and Axtyn Rasmussen, Colorado Springs, CO.

Visitation will begin at 9:30 am Wednesday, February 15, 2023 at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home, Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th St., Topeka, KS. Private family committal service will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Leavenworth, KS.
