Beverly A. "Bev" Desbien, 85, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, December 8, 2020.
She was born October 1, 1935, in Waterville, Kansas, the daughter of John and Nora (Rickson) Dahm. She graduated from Waterville High School and went on to attend Secretarial School.
Beverly was employed by Fisher Patterson Sayler Smith. She started working at the firm from the mid 80's up until retiring at the age of 80. She had worked for the same attorney throughout her time there; Steve Pigg.
She was very active with First United Methodist Church in Topeka. She was involved with the Women's Group and the Sunday School Class.
She raised four independent kids who took on her love for traveling; as they all now live throughout the United States. She enjoyed adventure, roller coasters, playing cards and watching KU basketball. She was an avid collector of all sorts of things; including travel spoons and state quarters.
She was a sweet individual who left a mark on anyone she met. She was very generous and always lent a helping hand if you needed it.
She will be greatly missed by her family and will forever been known as Grandma Dovey.
Beverly married Darrel Desbien on February 13, 1965; he preceded her in death on May 11, 2007. Survivors include her children, Larry (Katie Smith) Desbien, David B. Desbien, Angela Ritchie, and Dwain (Joana) Desbien; grandchildren, Ryan (Brandy) Desbien, and Desiree Ritchie; great-grandchildren, Xander Desbien and Axel Desbien. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four siblings.
A Private Graveside Service will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Rescue Mission, Inc. PO Box 8350, Topeka, KS, 66608-0350.
