Beulah Wilkinson Summers, 93, Topeka, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014.
Beulah was born February 5, 1921 in rural Worth County, Missouri, the daughter of Allie Maudelin and Ransom E. Wilkinson.
She graduated from Rural Worth County High School in Grant City, MO and received a Bachelor's degree from NW Missouri State in 1942. She received a Masters of Education from Emporia State and a Doctor of Philosophy from Kansas State University in 1981.
She taught Home Economics and Typing at Topeka High School for 35 years.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She was an avid world traveler and ballroom dancer.
Beulah married James Summers on July 26, 1942. He died January 22, 1990. Survivors include son, James Stephen Summers, DDS, Coldspring, Texas; grandchildren, Misty Sornchai, Dean B. Chamberlain, Jr., James Warren Chamberlain, Suzanne LaDell Summers-Brown; and great-grandson, Hudson Armstead Brown. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Shirley S. Chamberlain.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at Mount Hope Chapel. Entombment will follow in Mount Hope Mausoleum. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, March 28, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel.
