Betty Maurie Sisk, 83, passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016.
Betty was born March 17, 1933, in Ottumwa, Iowa, the daughter of Byron and Mabel (Ogren) Johnson. She was a homemaker and adored baking desserts for her husband and family. She was a member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, and First Lutheran Church, where she loved singing in the church choir. Betty enjoyed music, theater, and watching her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren perform in their various musical endeavors. She also enjoyed supporting several performing arts organizations in Topeka, along with her fervent support of the Topeka Rescue Mission and Easter Seals Capper Foundation.
She married Phillip B. Sisk on June 26, 1954. Phil was a physician in Topeka for 35 years. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents and son Michael.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Rebecca and Matthew Foerschler; three grandchildren, Andrew, Emily and Hannah Foerschler; two sisters, Beverly (Richard) Scherling, and Virginia (Richard) Naney; three sisters-in-law, Jeanne Crow, Sherry (Jim) Graehling, and Stephanie (John) Kirchhoff; nine nieces and nephews, Douglas, Pamela, Bonnie, Lynn, Barbara, Sue, Bradley, Steve, and Ann; and many other extended family and friends whom she loved dearly.
A celebration of life is planned for at 1 PM, October 1, 2016, First Lutheran Church, 1234 Fairlawn Road, Topeka, Kansas. Remember Betty's love of God and life by wearing bright colors.
