Betty Gaile Peach

Elizabeth "Betty" Gaile Moyer Peach, 87, Topeka, passed away Sunday, June 4, 2017.

She was born March 30, 1930, in Kansas City, Missouri, the daughter of C.I. "Cy" and Ruth (Corcoran) Moyer. She graduated from Severance Rural High School and Washburn University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics.

She began her career teaching Home Economics in Oakley, Kansas. She later worked for City Service Gas Company and Topeka Public Schools serving as a substitute teacher and as a Para at Highland Park High School, Potwin Elementary and McEachron Elementary.

She was active in Delta Gamma Sorority and was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deacon and elder as well as in other volunteer positions.

On December 18, 1954, she married John Richard "Dick" Peach Jr. in Shawnee Mission, Kansas. He preceded her in death August 31, 2007.

Betty is survived by her children: Elizabeth "Liz" and Lyndsey Barclay, Broken Arrow, OK, Leslie and Gary McDonald, Richardson, Texas, John Peach, Topeka, KS and Charles and Dori Peach, Roeland Park, KS. Grandchildren: Michelle and Nathan Mayenschein, Lyndsey "Trey" Barclay, Austin Peach and Gabriella Peach. Great Grandchildren: Liam Barclay, Everley Mayenschein and Deacon Mayenschein. Brother, Charles "Cy" Moyer (Gladys) Phillipsburg, KS and sister Ruth Anna Gerald, Roeland Park, KS; Sisters-in- law, Margaret and Bruce Maupin, Denver, CO and Martha Peach Madrid, Spain as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Meals on Wheels, Visiting Angels and Encompass Home Health for the special care provided.

Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, June 8, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church. Private interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel.
