Betty Gail Palmer, 83, of Topeka, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024.
She was born June 5, 1941, in Moulton, Alabama, the daughter of Pruitt and Janora (Wilson) Burks. She graduated from Lawrence County High School in 1959.
Betty dedicated 28 years of service to Hallmark Cards.
She was a member of Crestview United Methodist Church.
Betty married Russell “Bud” Palmer on August 16, 1992 in Las Vegas, NV.
She enjoyed sports of all kinds. She loved to play golf, softball and bowling. Betty cheered on the KU Basketball team. She enjoyed watching and cheering on her grandchildren and great grandchildren in their activities. She was avid collector of Santa Clauses and anything Christmas.
She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents and her sister, Cora Jean Yarbrough and her brother, Nathaniel James “Buddy“ Burks.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Vanatta, Lawrence, KS, her son, Brian Gay (Lisa), Lawrence, KS, stepdaughter, Pam Besser (David) Center Point, IA. She is survived by her grandchildren Shannon Bailey (Ryan), Cynthia Wilson, Sarah Wise, Zachary Gay (Alexia), Parker Gay, Talia Gay, Luke Besser and Dillon Besser. Her great grandchildren Andrew Bailey, Emma Bailey, Abigail Wilson, Isaac Smith, Colton Smith and Declan Gay.
A graveside service will be 10:00 am on Friday, July 19, 2024 at Grantville Cemetery in Grantville, KS. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, 200 SE 1st Street Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131.
