Betty Lou Nelson, 86, Topeka,, passed away on Friday, February 2, 2007 at a local care center.
Betty was born February 18, 1920 in Concordia, the daughter of Louis and Alice (Hawkinson) Stimson. She was raised in Miltonvale.
She was employed by Stormont-Vail for over 20 years, retiring in 1990. She continued to volunteer at the hospital for 5 more years.
She married Russell Nelson January 10, 1948 in Topeka. He died January 23, 1973. Survivors include daughters, Andrea Wentzel and husband, Dick, Topeka, Carol Colvin and husband, Terry, Pittsburgh, PA; 4 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; and a brother, Bob Stimson, Andover. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Frances Hoffman.
Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 10. 2007 at First Christian Church, 1880 SW Gage, Topeka. Family and friends welcome. Private family inurnment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
