Betty Lee Lorenz

Betty Lee Lorenz, age 89, of Manhattan, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2014 in Topeka. She was born October 7, 1924, in Lawrence, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence L. and Ruby J. (Woodward) Martin. Betty graduated from Topeka High School. She married Henry D. Vogel and they had one son, Lawrence. In 1985, Betty married Harvey Lorenz in Manhattan. He preceded her in death in 1989. Betty worked in Topeka at Santa Fe Railroad, Sewell Oil, and Topeka Blood Bank. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend. She especially enjoyed being a homemaker and spending time with her family.

Betty is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Lawrence and Cinda Vogel of Manhattan, granddaughter Lindsay (Vogel) Silver and her husband Clint of Osage City, great-grandsons, Reed and Chase Silver, Osage City, sister, Wanda Hicks, Topeka, and niece, Lana Beck and her husband Loren, Topeka.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014, at Penwell-Gabel Mid-Town Chapel, 1321 SW 10th Avenue, Topeka. Private graveside services will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Lawrence.
