Betty Jean Karnes

Betty Jean Karnes, 85, Topeka, passed away on Tuesday, January 1, 2013 at Midland Hospice. She was born on August 5, 1927 in Topeka, Kansas to Orville and Myrtle (Matney) Ungerman.
She was a past member of Puddles and Pads water gardens and Pickers and Fiddlers.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Linda (J.R.) Condra of Lawrence, KS; Deborah Karnes of Topeka; one brother, Bob Ungerman of Topeka; three sisters, Judy Barr, Shirley Fulton and Alice Calhoun, all of Topeka and three grandsons, Mike, Robert and Sam. She was preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Sue Ungerman, her husband, Mack Karnes, and her granddaughter, Michelle Evans Palmer.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Visitation will follow the service until 12:30 pm. Inurnment will take place at a later date in the Rochester Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Linda Condra in care of the funeral home, 1321 SW 10th Ave, Topeka, KS 66604.
