Betty J. Warren, 87, of Topeka, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at her home. She was born May 5, 1925 in Topeka, the daughter of Clarence M. and Annie E. (Douglas) Snook.
Betty attended Gage Elementary School, Topeka High School and Clark's Business School. She was employed by the State of Kansas and the Santa Fe Railroad for 16 years before retiring in 1987. She was a member of West Side Christian Church.
Betty married Joe T. Warren on August 4, 1948 in Carson City, Nevada. He survives. Other survivors include their children: Nancy Warren, Diana (Norman) Austin, Joe (Carla) Warren, Will (Cyndi) Warren and Stacy (Ron) Horton, their grandchildren: Jason (Lisa), Brandon (Whitney), Brad, Heather Austin, Natalie (Dan) Rosenberger, Adam (Michelle) Warren, Amanda (Jacob) King, Jesse (Jessica) Warren, Elise (Dan) Leonard, Danielle, Erika, Kiley Horton, Stacey (Travis) Potter, Wendy (Tony) Savoy, and James Croucher, their great-grandchildren: Gavin, Ellen, Kellan, Owen, Allison, Cale, Cole, Brayden, Caleb, Colton, Emily, Taylor, Abie and Cole, and her siblings: Eileen Thompson, Arlene Clark, Carol Jacobs, Jackie Myszka, Sharon Arndt and Don, Doug and Doran Snook.
Betty was preceded in death by one son, Gary Warren and her siblings, Bill, Dale and Roy Snook, Anna Mock, Barb Merritt and Mildred Andrews.
Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will follow In Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Betty will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Midland Care Hospice Services, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606 or to West Side Christian Church, 432 SW Lindenwood Ave., Topeka, KS 66606.
