Betty J. Blackburn, 93, of Topeka, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2015, with her family by her side. She was born January 13, 1922 in Pittsburg, KS, the daughter of William and Minnie Jones Robison.
At 32, Betty married the love of her life, C.C. Blackburn on February 21, 1954 in Kansas City, MO. at the Muehlbach Hotel. After marriage, they moved to Wichita, KS, where both daughters were born. The family moved to Topeka in 1960. Betty was very active in Girl Scouts and a wide variety of youth activities at First Presbyterian Church. She then worked at Donaldson's Jewelers for over 16 years until her retirement. She & C.C. enjoyed dancing, dining out and road trips to visit family. Betty also enjoyed home decor & floral design. What she enjoyed most was her family, their activities and friends.
C.C. preceded Betty in death on December 21, 2003. She was also preceded in death by her brother, William Robison, Jr. of Seattle, WA. in 2008.
Survivors include two daughters, Gail Blackburn of Topeka and Kay Blackburn of St. Louis, MO.
Private graveside services will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery. Memorial services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at First Presbyterian Church.
